The house, grounds and tea bar are open to the public from May to September on Sundays, Bank Holiday Mondays and Mondays in August from 2.30pm – 5.30pm. Tours run hourly at 2.30pm, 3.30pm with the last tour at 4.30pm. The rooms on show are the Main Hall, Library and Conservatory, and on the first floor the Ballroom and Drawing Room.
To avoid disruption and congestion in the village, please park within the grounds of Avington Park.
Please note we cannot take credit cards. Please pay in cash or by cheque. Thank you.
Avington welcomes visitors with disabilities and our staff will be happy to give assistance when needed. Wherever possible, it would be helpful if we could be notified in advance to ensure that ramps are in place. The Main Hall, the Library and Conservatory are all on the ground floor. There is one step up to the library and two up to the conservatory. A ramp is available.
There is no lift to the first floor, so the ballroom and drawing room are only accessed by the stairs which are wide and fairly gentle.
There are spacious facilities for the disabled by the orangery. The grounds are accessible on well maintained gravel paths and lawns. There is a sloping lawn leading to the church of St Mary’s.
Official Guide Dogs are welcome in the house. Well behaved dogs are permitted in the grounds, but must be kept on leads.
PRIVATE GROUP TOURS
Private tours for groups (minimum 20) are most welcome all year round by arrangement.
Catering can be arranged if required, ranging from light lunches, cream teas, home-made cake, or simply tea, coffee and biscuits.
“One of the most nearly perfect and most unaltered examples of a country Georgian Church is near Winchester at Avington, the smallest parish in Hampshire.” St Mary’s Church is in the grounds close by and may also be visited. We can also arrange for a Barrel Organ recital. Of all the remaining barrel organs in England, perhaps none has a more idyllic and typical setting than the one here at Avington.

We have recently had a committee meeting and I can report that all were very pleased with the visit. I have had individual members also sending their thanks for a very enjoyable day, even though for part of it we had rain. Please pass our thanks to Roland for giving us all such an interesting and informative tour. Our thanks also go to yourselves and the owner for allowing us the wonderful opportunity to bring our cars and display them. Gary Wragg – Rolls Royce Enthusiast Club – Aug 2017

We were made to feel very welcome and everyone said what a delightful spot for the house to be located. The weather was great and everything seemed to fall into place very smoothly. The house was very impressive, both inside and out and the tour of the house was very interesting (thanks to Helen’s informative talk) and to finish off the day with a cream tea, what more could people want! Vanessa Chamberlaine – Hillingdon U3A July 2016
On behalf of BDFAS I would just like you to know just how much everyone enjoyed their visit to Avington yesterday afternoon. Your warm welcome, Vera’s very knowledgeable guided tour given so pleasantly, Geofrrey’s explanation about the organ and the tuneful recital, also the cream tea which was most enjoyable. We could not have chosen a better venue for our of term outing and we were so lucky with the weather too. Heather Edge – BDFAS Juy 2016

On behalf of the Friends of St Andrew’s Farnham, I am writing to thank you all most sincerely for your hospitality and friendship when we visited Avington Park on Wednesday. From the organisation by yourselves, Vera’s excellent and informative tour and the delicious lunch, we all throughly enjoyed ourselves and learnt so much about your wonderful location and its historic house and church. Feedback from everyone who attended has been excellent and hopefully they will pass the word on to others, who can in turn come along to enjoy the peaceful house and its surroundings. Diana Martin – Secretary, Friends of St Andrew’s – June 2016
We were very well looked after by Vera, our guide, who was so experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the house and family and helped bring it to life with so much history and was topped off with a lovely cup of tea and huge slice of cake on the terrace in the sunshine. We popped in to see the Church on the way back to the coach. We certainly enjoyed our visit hich was a first for the majourity of our member and one that we will be coming back to and recommend or our Societies in the Sussex area. Jane Hopkin- East Sussex DFAS – June 2016
When I first began planning the trip during the soggy start of the year it was nigh inpossible to imagine we would be blessed with such a perfect spring day in May. Avington looked spectacular. The setting, the colours the house and above all your heavenly church are all incredibly beautiful. But looks are only part of the day. What people really like is the opportunity to soak up all the history and local tales. Vera was a triumph and everyone listened spellbound to the stories she told. A visit to the church with the barrel organ recital made stepping back in time easy. I shall certainly spread the word of how wonderful Avington is to all I come across. Amanda Ponsonby – The Rectory Society – May 2016
